Hari peringatan wafatnya Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, seorang pendidik dan politisi Argentina.

• Brazil: 15 Oktober (sejak 1963)

Pertama kali dirayakan tahun 1947 di São Paulo oleh sejumlah guru dari sebuah sekolah kecil. Tanggal 15 Oktober disepakati sebagai hari guru karena pada tanggal tersebut, Dom Pedro I menyetujui dekrit penataan kembali sekolah dasar di Brazil.

• Chili: 16 Oktober

Pada tahun 1974, tanggal 10 Desember disepakati sebagai hari guru karena penyair Chili Gabriela Mistral menerima Penghargaan Nobel pada 10 Desember 1945. Sejak tahun 1977, hari guru diubah menjadi tanggal 16 Oktober untuk memperingati berdirinya Institut Guru Chili (Colegio de Profesores de Chile).^[1]

Hari guru dirayakan sejak tahun 1963 di Seoul, dan sejak tahun 1964 di kota Chuncheon. Perayaan ini dimulai oleh sekelompok anggota palang merah remaja yang mengunjungi guru-guru yang sedang sakit di rumah sakit.
